Choose the job before the style

Design for where the piece will sit

Wedding pieces do different jobs. A welcome sign should be readable from across the room, a keepsake can focus on names and a date, and table numbers need to stand securely without crowding the place settings.

Choose the setting first, then match the project to it. That choice sets the size, material, lettering style, bit, mounting method, and finish. The examples below cover a square personalized sign, a long hardwood date sign, and freestanding table numbers.

Three wedding projects you can customize

Each project has a working preview and copy path. The two personalized signs use V-carving, which requires Easel Pro. The standing table number uses a straight end mill and a fitted base.

Protect the stain while removing excess paint

Sam Alaimo recommends extra layers of stain and sealer, followed by light sanding to remove paint from the face. If sanding removes some stain, he suggests touching it up with a small brush that avoids the painted lettering. This gives you a way to preserve both colors instead of sanding the whole face aggressively.
