Keep fine detail without running out of cutting length

Jules used a 1/16-inch fishtail bit for the octopus outline but found its cutting length short for half-inch Corian. A 1/8-inch bit can reach through the material more easily, though it will lose some of the small outline detail. Check both the cutter diameter and its usable cutting length when you adapt this design.

Sand the arrow dish’s seam after the glue dries

Jules lets the glue dry before sanding the join between the arrow dish’s rim and base. Smooth that seam and any rough edges before applying the mineral-oil finish. The joined dish needs this finishing step even though each layer has already been carved.
