Make a holder for your glasses

Keep reading glasses by your desk, sunglasses near the door or safety glasses in the shop. Explore wooden stands, wall rails and trays, then draw a simple slotted rail in Easel.

Start from a blank workpiece

Draw a rail with a slot for folded arms

Start with a blank workpiece and size a rectangle to 7 by 1 inches. Give the outer shape an outline cut, then add a 6-by-¼-inch rectangle inside it for a through slot. Watch the real Easel editor and 3D preview update. This shows the basic rail shape; adjust the slot around your glasses and plan the rear mounting separately. The recording uses the preview’s 0.2-inch stock, not a finished mounting or cutting setup.

A real blank Easel workpiece gains a rectangular glasses rail outline and a long through slot beside the native 3D preview.

Stand glasses on a dresser, hang them up or carve a tray

Measure the plywood before sizing the slots

Jones designed the stand around plywood that measured about 0.2 inch, even though it was sold as quarter-inch stock. Use the measured thickness when adjusting the interlocking slots. A small test joint in a scrap lets you check the fit before cutting all the arms.

Finish the tray before adding the lining

Brewer sands and stains the charging pad, then lets the stain dry overnight before flocking the pockets. If you want a lined glasses recess, follow that order so the wood finishing is complete before the fibers go in. The lining is optional.
