Enhanced Material Color and Layer Support

Select from a library of all the 2-color acrylic and 2-color HDPE materials from the Inventables store in Easel and preview exactly how they will look when carved. Choose your own colors when using materials not sold in the Inventables store.

Carving with 2-color materials is an easy way to create a contrasting effect between carved and uncarved areas without having to use paint or inlays. These materials are made by gluing different colors of the same material on top of each other. By carving through the first layer, you reveal the second layer, which creates the contrasting look.

Easel now supports choosing two-colored acrylic and HDPE materials from the material dropdown. After selecting one of these materials, you can choose from all the colors Inventables has to offer, or choose custom colors from a color palette. Easel will show you how deep you need to cut to expose each layer in the cut depth slider, and it will show an HD 3D preview of the result.

To use this feature, first select a single or 2-color acrylic or 2-color HDPE material from the material dropdown:

Then select your color, or a custom color:

For 2-color materials, the depth slider will show you how deep you need to cut to expose an underlying layer:

The 3D preview will show carved and uncarved layers:

You can also now select different single-color varieties of acrylic, HDPE and more, with the option to choose a custom color for these as well:
